Open call for the Triton Cup on May the 26th 2024, at Cala De’ Medici – Castiglioncello, Tuscany.

The first edition of the Triton Cup – Life A-Mar Natura 2000 will be an exciting regatta that transforms the sea into a stage of discovery and adventure. It will take place in the marina of Cala de’ Medici, in the province of Livorno, which for over ten years has been the Blue Flag, certified by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) which attests to the environmental quality of the tourist-bathing areas.

For lovers of sailing and the sea, this competition is not only an opportunity to test their skills, but also an invitation to explore the wonders that our seas guard: the marine and coastal sites of the Natura 2000 network. These places, authentic natural treasures, host an extraordinary variety of marine life, with unique habitats and animal species of important natural interest.

During the race, you will have the opportunity to meet experts from the Natura 2000 network, ready to share their knowledge on species and habitats of marine and coastal sites. You can immerse yourself in the wonders of these places, enriching your experience with valuable information.

To this end, the APP has been created and will be presented on this occasion, Amar Sea Life, an innovative tool for spreading the European Natura 2000 network. The APP in fact allows you to discover the geographical location of the marine and coastal sites Natura 2000 and provides a description of the sites, habitat, fauna and flora. It has been designed to actively involve sea lovers: you can share the discovery of the places, taking photos and uploading them directly into the application.

The regatta also becomes an opportunity to promote sustainable lifestyles and inclusion: in collaboration, in fact, with the pediatric oncology department of the Hospital of Modena, a project of Sea Therapy is launched, which offers healing and rehabilitation paths that combine the beneficial effects of sports practices with the advantages of spending time at sea, in nature.

The Triton Cup – Life A-Mar Natura 2000 is a unique experience that allows the meeting of different categories of stakeholders united by the passion for the sea: sailors, tourists, biologists, journalists, environmentalists, families and institutions united in the interest of defending the sea and protecting and conserving marine biodiversity for future generations.
