Saline di Tarquinia

The site is close to the coast of the ancient Etruscan city of Tarquinia. It represents the only saltmarsh of Lazio region and one of the few remaining along the Italian coastline, inactive since 1997. Despite its limited area – 150 hectares of which approximately 100 consist of coastal lagoon – it holds significant importance as a habitat for the stopover, foraging and reproductive activities of avifauna.
