Isola di Capo Passero

This islet still show examples of natural vegetation that have become quite rare due to human activity on the nearby Sicilian coast. Additionally, there are some interesting endemisms as well as species that are quite rare in Sicily. Various plant entities are found here, which are either rare or of significant phytogeographic interest in the regional area. There are aspects of psammophilous vegetation, maquis, garrigue, and halophilic rocky vegetation, both with fauna which is adapted to these xeric environments. The island is used by numerous bird species as a foraging, resting, or wintering area.
