Foce del Magazzolo, Foce del Platani, Capo Bianco, Torre Salsa

The area comprises some of the most undamaged sandy beaches in Sicily, as well as dune systems that host both natural and artificial plant communities. The area also includes promontories and cliffs which are composed of marly limestones and globigerina marls, as well as clayey badlands. Extensive areas of the ancient dunes and inland zones have been affected by afforestation with often invasive exotic species competing with native elements. Overall, the site holds high value both in terms of landscape and purely naturalistic aspects. Several species of vascular flora of phytogeographical interest are also present. The site plays a significant role as a stopover and/or migration route for substantial bird populations both in spring and autumn seasons.
