Costa Viola

The SPA consists of a stretch of sea, a coastal area, and hilly areas in the inland, between the Strait of Messina and the Aspromonte. This SPA is one of the most important European areas for the spring migration of birds of prey. Along the coast, the SPA extends from Marina di Palmi to Zagarella. It includes the sea area of the Strait of Messina from Capo Barbi to Villa S. Giovanni. These areas are characterized by coastal cliffs that form high cliffs which are rich in cliff-dwelling and endemic species. In the marine sites, there are Posidonia meadows.
