Promoting marine sites: new events with the project’s co-funding parks
Meeting with the Asinara and Tuscan Archipelago National Parks
Work on the LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 project continued with the co-funding parks on the themes of ‘Training and capacity building for managing bodies of Natura 2000 marine sites and stakeholders’ (Action B.3). Many events designed to strengthen skills, tools and collaboration between those who manage and those who experience the marine sites of the Natura 2000 network took place. Following the meeting with the Cinque Terre National Park, on March 6th an online meeting was held with the Asinara National Park and two meetings with the Tuscan Archipelago National Park on 13th and 16th of March.
The events held 6 and 16 March (Asinara and PNAT) were dedicated to communication issues, with the aim of ensuring consistent and clear communication regarding the Natura 2000 marine sites and the project’s results; focusing on how to highlight ‘minor issues’ such as lesser-known species, natural habitats and small sustainable actions.
At both events, Roberto Gambassi presented the results of the questionnaire administered in the areas where the project’s initiatives took place, identifying different types of users. Gianni Montesano discussed various aspects of environmental communication, focusing on the effectiveness of specific communication models. A representative from the Bovino Agency also took part, addressing issues relating to communication via social media.
On March 13, an online meeting was held with the PNAT guides to discuss and share insights on the rules and best practices for managing NATURA 2000 marine sites, and to integrate the project’s content into communications with visitors.
All the meetings were coordinated by Maria Villani, project manager at Federparchi, and the participatory tool ‘Mentimeter’ was used.
