New Standard Forms for marine Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), meeting with Italian MASE and Sogesid

Technical and operational meetings for managers of Marine Special Areas of Conservation

An online meeting focused on the new forms for sites in the NATURA2000 Network was held with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and experts from Sogesid the 17 March, as part of the LIFE AMAR NATURA2000 project.

The meeting was a technical-operational event for the managing bodies of Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), with reference to marine SAC, which include the majority of marine NATURA2000 sites. Following the adoption of the new Standard Form, the new features of the form and the associated database were explained. The impact of the new fields introduced in the forms was also discussed.

The webinar was divided into two sessions. The first was featured by Benedetta Brecciaroli, an officer from the Ministry of the italian Environment and Energy Security (MASE), who, amongst other things, provided guidance on completing and submitting updates and interacted with the participants.

Second session was led by Manuela Perinelli from Sogesid’s Technical Assistance Unit at MASE, aimed to provide insights for the objectives and conservation measures for marine Special Areas of Conservation.

Both sessions were coordinated by Maria Villani, project manager at Federparchi.
