custom_height=”40px”][vc_column_text el_class=”custom-font-size”]For the second year in a row, Federparchi is organizing the \u201c<\/span>Good Practices for Natura 2000 marine sites<\/span><\/i>\u201d competition, as part of the LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 project \u201cKnowing and Loving Natura 2000 Marine Sites to Protect Them\u201d – LIFE20 GIE\/IT\/001352. <\/span>The application deadline is midnight on April 15, 2025.<\/b><\/p>\n

As in the previous edition in 2024, the competition aims to select \u201cGood Practices\u201d that promote sustainable management of fisheries resources, sustainable tourism and environmental education within Natura 2000 sites, with priority given to sites that were involved by the sailing campaign held within the LIFE A-MAR NATURA2000 project.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGood Practices\u201d must, therefore, be implemented by enterprises that fall into the following categories of activities:<\/span><\/p>\n

(a) Professional fishing enterprises that, with a view to the sustainable management of fishery resources, practice artisanal fishing, defined by EC Reg. 26\/2004 Tab. 3 Annex I: \u201c<\/span>Fishing practiced by vessels of less than 12 meters f.t. length that do not use towed gear<\/span><\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) Tourism enterprises practicing sustainable forms of tourism;<\/span><\/p>\n

(c) Enterprises engaged in environmental education.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Sustainable management<\/b>\u201d refers to fishing activities that ensure and promote the preservation and\/or enhancement of fishery resources by promoting their reproducibility. This includes collective actions of sustainable management of marine\/lagoon areas, development and use of selective and low environmental impact fishing gears, production chains of enhancement of products from sustainable fishing and farming.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Sustainable tourism<\/b>\u201d means tourism that is aware of its present and future social, economic, and environmental impacts and that meets the needs of visitors, local communities, the environment, and businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Environmental education<\/b>\u201d means raising the awareness of citizens and communities to greater responsibility and attention to environmental issues and good land governance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Companies, including cooperatives, single or associated, within the sectors described above that operate in the Natura 2000 sites of Italy and Spain are eligible to participate in the call.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following prizes will be awarded to the three Italian and three Spanish winning companies, one for each category of activity:<\/span><\/p>\n

1- <\/span>artisanal fishing<\/b> enterprise: complete technical work and safety clothing (life jackets and professional oilskins, boots, work gloves, etc.) in recyclable material appropriate to the fishing system practiced;<\/span><\/p>\n

2<\/span>– sustainable tourism<\/b> enterprise: No. 6 technical binoculars suitable for the marine environment and coastal ecosystems for cetacean avifauna sightings, etc.;<\/span><\/p>\n

3- e<\/strong><\/span>nvironmental education<\/b> enterprise: no. 1 underwater camera equipped with transmission cable and external monitor for boat viewing of marine ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n

All prizes will be customized with the project logo.<\/span><\/p>\n
