This is situated on the northeastern coast of Menorca island. This is the geologically oldest part of the island. The site is of exceptional interest from a landscape perspective due to its diverse mix of environments and high level of conservation. This is an unusual situation in the Balearic Islands because the Albufera del Grau is the only wetland area that is not located on flat land. It is wedged between hills that overlook the entire body of water. The coastline in this area is diverse, featuring cliffy stretches, coves with beaches, several islets, such as the island of Colom, and a wide variety of seabeds. The area remains unaltered, as there is no urban development except for the village of Es Grau, which is well integrated into the landscape. The agricultural landscape inland, interspersed with patches of Mediterranean scrubland, is also remarkably beautiful.
