This is the most northern part of the island of Ibiza. Covering almost 2,000 hectares, it is located entirely within the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja and includes both marine and terrestrial areas. The quality and importance of this area is based on the presence of several habitats of priority Community Interest. These include Posidonia meadows. The most important animal species that can be found are the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), the European Shag (Gulosus aristotelis), the Stone-Curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus) and the Thekla’s Lark (Galerida theklae). Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) and Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta caretta) can be observed in the marine area of the space. Forest fires, uncontrolled anchoring and excessive maritime traffic are the main threats to the area.
