A coastal area comprises a stretch of low rocky coastline, with small coves with sandy and pebble beaches. The ecosystems, flora and vegetation on display are typical of the Iberian Mediterranean, with the Posidonia meadows being the outstanding feature. These meadows are home to many echinoderms (several species of starfish and numerous sea urchins feed on this plant) and cephalopod molluscs (octopuses and cuttlefish). Posidonia also attracts numerous fish (carnivorous and omnivorous) that feed on crustaceans, sea urchins, molluscs, worms, etc. This plant is an excellent larder and, for some species, a refuge, as its rhizomes and intertwined leaves provide many hiding places.
