The marine area it occupies extends from Cape Llentrisca, bordering the islets of Es Vedrà, Es Vedranell, Ses Bledes and Espartar, as well as the island of Conillera and the entire north coast (Els Amunts) to Punta d’es Moscarter in Portinatx. Its geographical location means that its waters are directly affected by the surface current that flows northeast along the western coasts of the Balearic Islands, resulting in an area of high productivity. The seabed near Conillera island and the islet of Espartar are rocky, while around Vedra, they consist of gravel and mud to a lesser extent. The marine area surrounding several islets and coastal stretches is an important breeding ground for various seabirds. The European Storm Petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus) breeding population is concentrated in this area, which hosts the most important breeding colonies in the Spanish Mediterranean. The area is also home to significant populations of Balearic Shearwater (Puffinus mauretanicus) and Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii), as well as Scopoli’s Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea) to a lesser extent.
