This is a marine area that stretches along the north and west of the island of Menorca. Well-preserved Posidonia meadows cover most of the coastal seabed. It includes the surroundings of the largest colony of Scopoli’s Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea) in the Balearic Islands, as well as one of its main feeding areas. There are also several important colonies of shag (Gulosus aristotelis) along the coast and Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii) in the westernmost sector. Also nesting in the area, but in very small numbers, is the Balearic Shearwater (Puffinus mauretanicus).
