Espacio marino del entorno de Illes Columbretes

The Columbretes Islands are the visible portion of a vast underwater volcanic field located to the south of the Ebro River mouth. This is one of the few examples of Quaternary volcanism in the Mediterranean. From an ecological perspective, it is important to highlight the biodiversity associated with the seabed (rocky and sedimentary) around the Columbretes Islands. The benthic assemblages present on the seabed of the Columbretes are determined by the water’s morphological diversity and transparency.
