Espacio marino de Orpesa y Benicassim

This area is exclusively for marine and coastal use and is located off the coasts of these municipalities in the province of Castellon. The area contains Posidonia and Cymodocea meadows of some interest despite the habitat’s regression. Similarly, the coastline, particularly in the case of Orpesa, conserves areas of significant environmental and scenic value. The region frequently accommodates migratory and wintering populations of various significant species, including the Audouin’s Gull and the European Shag. Both species use the cliffs of Orpesa as roosts. The area is also utilised as a winter feeding ground by Yelkouan Shearwaters, Balearic Shearwaters, Mediterranean Gulls, and Sandwich Terns.
