Espacio marino de los Islotes Litorales de Murcia y Almeria

This marine area includes two of the region’s three small islands. Isla de los Terreros is located approximately 700 metres south of Despeñaperros in Almería, while Las Palomas Island lies between Cabo Tiñoso and the port of Cartagena. The coastline features moderate-sized cliffs and beaches. The islets are enclosed enclaves sheltered from the winds, resulting in calm waters. The topography of the coast and seabed, combined with this feature, promotes the upwelling of deep water.
