The Columbretes Islands’ marine area is situated off the coast of Castellon. It comprises a series of islets and reefs that emerged from a large submarine volcanic formation that is still active in terms of gas emissions. Due to their isolation from the coast, lack of habitable conditions, and complex seabed morphology, this area is one of the most biodiverse in the western Mediterranean. We can highlight species such as the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta) or the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).
