Delta de l’Ebre

The Delta is a complex system that has been shaped by both natural and human-induced changes in recent years. The area comprises a vast alluvial plain connected to a network of lagoons and ponds, extensive sandy beaches, and water and soil with varying degrees of salinity. The plant population of the Delta is an exemplary representation of coastal vegetation on the sandy coast of Catalonia, featuring some highly distinctive elements. The diverse deltaic environments host varied faunal populations, some of which are of great interest from a zoogeographical perspective. The Delta boasts a diverse and abundant fauna, including various invertebrates and vertebrates. Notably, the avian population is particularly prominent.
