The area is located between Cap de ses Penyes and Punta de na Picada on the south coast of Menorca. The importance of this site is due to the presence of habitats of priority interest. These include Posidonia oceanica meadows. This area is frequented by the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), European Shag (Gulosus aristotelis), Audouin’s Gull (Icthyaetus audouinii) and the occasional Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta). The main threats to Posidonia beds and benthic assemblages are the anchoring of recreational boats and the pollution of the sea by sewage.
