The coast is in the province of Barcelona. The location borders the Costa del Maresme to the north and the Costa Dorada to the south. This area contains significant communities of Posidonia oceanica and numerous fish populations, which serve as feeding grounds for many bird species. Therefore, it is an area of great importance for feeding the bird community in the Llobregat delta. The Posidonia meadows are home to various echinoderms, including several species of starfish and numerous sea urchins that feed on this plant, as well as cephalopod molluscs such as octopus and cuttlefish. Posidonia attracts many carnivorous and omnivorous fish that feed on crustaceans, sea urchins, molluscs, and worms. The plant provides a great larder and refuge for some species, as its rhizomes (underground rootstalks) and intertwined leaves offer numerous hiding places.
