This region is one of the driest and warmest in Mallorca. The southern coast of Mallorca comprises a vast, rocky, limestone plateau that runs alongside the sea, featuring straight, steep cliffs. The terrain type facilitates the creation of small endorheic basins that produce temporary ponds. These ponds dry up during the summer and refill with autumn and spring rains. These ponds are of great interest due to their diverse fauna and flora, particularly the presence of invertebrates. The vegetation in this area consists of a combination of dry crops, predominantly cereal and almond trees, Mediterranean scrubland, and some pine forests.
