This area encompasses the Cap de Creus peninsula, located in the province of Girona. It forms a rocky, high and abrupt coastline. It is cut by cliffs and numerous inlets and ledges, which are drained by complex hydrographic basins. The flora is characterised by a predominance of Mediterranean elements. However, typical Pyrenean species are also present. Forested vegetation occurs on the northern slopes of the peninsula, while the rest of the area is occupied by a vast expanse of scrub and dry grassland. A wide variety of fauna inhabits the different biotopes.
