Cabrera is a small archipelago situated southeast of Mallorca. The archipelago comprises Cabrera, an island, six smaller islands, and a dozen small islets. The terrain features a rough relief and an uneven shape. The area boasts various submerged habitats, including sandbanks, rocky areas, and Posidonia meadows. This diversity supports a wide range of marine fauna species. The abundance of endemic species is noteworthy, including both plants and invertebrates, with new species and subspecies being continuously described. The location is significant as a stopover for many migratory birds and as a sanctuary for colonies of seabirds. Among the birds of prey, there are three pairs of ospreys, as well as several pairs of Eleonora’s falcon and peregrine falcon. In terms of landscape, this archipelago is highly valuable as an unspoilt enclave of the Mediterranean coastline.
