Arrecifes de Roquetas de Mar

The marine area of Roquetas de Mar Reefs is situated in the Gulf of Almería, off the coast of the municipality of Roquetas de Mar. It is in the Baetic area. This area features well-developed Posidonia meadows. In front of the Algaida shore, there is a unique barrier reef formed by the meadow. This reef is of great interest as it is one of the few surviving Posidonia oceanica reefs on the Mediterranean coast. The presence of the Noble Pen Shell (Pinna nobilis) is noteworthy among the species found in the Posidonia meadows.
