It is located off the coast of the municipalities of Felanitx and Manacor, on the southeast coast of Mallorca. The quality and importance of this area is based on the presence of priority habitats. These include Posidonia meadows. Other relevant species, such as the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta) and Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), are also found here. The main threats to this type of habitat are unregulated anchoring of recreational boats, trawling and overfishing. There is also the possibility of colonisation by Caulerpa taxifolia (a type of seaweed), which has occurred on several occasions but has now been eradicated.
