The Stagnone of Marsala is a vast lagoon area located to the south of Trapani up to Marsala, including some islands. The area is characterized by an extensive meadow of Posidonia oceanica and atoll formations. The salt pans of Trapani and Paceco host rare plant communities in Sicily. The area is of significant ornithological interest due to various bird species. There are also endemic or rare insects. The balance between traditional human activities and natural features makes the area important from a landscape and environmental biological perspective. The presence of Pinna nobilis and marine taxa makes it a perfect location for speciation processes.
