This is a coastal area at the north of the Elba Island. An uninhabited islet characterized by a predominantly sandy seabed colonized by Posidonia oceanica, while along the coast and around Scoglietto, there are rocky seabeds. The Posidonia meadow is well-structured, and there are coralligenous communities in the northeastern part. Biological protection has promoted high diversity and abundance of fish fauna in the waters surrounding the islet. Populations of Cystoseira spp. are found in shallow areas.
