The island of Levanzo, along with the islands of Favignana, Marettimo, and the rocks of Formica and Maraone, is part of the Egadi Islands, which is located in the Sicilian Channel, off the western coast of Trapani. Like the other islands of the Egadi, it also holds significant faunal importance, as they are situated along the main migratory route from Europe to Africa in western Sicily.
