It is a small limestone rock outcrop with an extensive development of cliffs and coastal cliffs. It is located off the coast between Diamante and Cirella and it represents one of the rare examples of a coastal island in Calabria. The island is covered by a dense Mediterranean scrub well preserved. This area is significant, from a floristic point of view, for the presence of Dianthus rupicola, a species of community interest. Among other species of conservation interest, there are: Limonium remotispiculum, endemic to a narrow Tyrrhenian coastal area that extends from northern Calabria to the Cilento coast; and Serapias parviflora, a small orchid with a stenomediterranean distribution which is included in the regional Red List with a vulnerable status.
