Isola Correnti, Pantani di Punta Pilieri, chiusa dell’Alga e Parrino

The importance of the site is related to the extreme rarity of finding, along the southern Sicilian coast, dune environments with small marshy depressions. This depressions are affected by psammophilous vegetation which are in good conservation condition, serving as a refuge for migratory birdlife. It hosts a relatively rich avifauna and an invertebrate fauna that includes stenoecious, endemic, or rare species which sometimes are extremely localized in Sicily.
