The site known as “seabedsbetween Torre Astura and Capo Portiere” is located along the coast of Lazio, specifically between the municipalities of Nettuno and Latina, encompassing an area of 2,130.14 hectares.The seabed of this site fall within the Mediterranean biogeographical region. The benthic marine environment within the site exhibits a great variety of marine biodiversity. Notably, it hosts several habitats of significant interest as Posidonia oceanica meadows and rocky zones. The Posidonia oceanica meadows constitute a crucial habitat for numerous species of marine fauna and flora. Indeed, this particular plant builds a true and unique underwater ecosystem because it is capable of producing oxygen and thereby supporting a lot of marine organisms.
