The site is characterized by Posidonia meadows established on rocky substrates, interrupted by sandy areas particularly at the mouths of streams. In the eastern sector of the site, biodiversity is higher, partly due to the presence of rocky outcrops colonized by Coralligenous formations. The meadow is surrounded by sandy bottoms with the presence of Cymodocea sp.; furthermore, in some spots, it is crossed by ‘intermatte’ channels occupied by biocenoses indicating strong bottom currents.
