The site is characterized by a watercourse that undergoes significant fluctuations in water levels due to irregular precipitation and water extraction. Extensive alluvial deposits of sparsely vegetated pebbles are notably present, mostly with a short growth cycle. Despite the high level of human influence in the adjacent areas and the relatively limited “edge” effect of riparian woody vegetation, the site is still significant as an example of a very rare type of “wetland” in Liguria.
