The site includes the entire coastal stretch of Capo Colonne promontory, south of Crotone on the Ionian-Calabrian side. It is a site where three species of Limonium are found on the cliff directly overlooking the sea: L. serotinum on clayey soils, L. lacinum on the calcarenite rocks above the clays, which is endemic to Capo Colonna, L. sinuatum on the upper edge of the cliff. It is a possible site for the presence of the ground beetle Bembidion steinbühleri and other species which are associated with the rocky coast. In the site, some point endemics are found, such as the Limonium lacinium and Allium garbarii, which are recently described for this site.
