Marismas del río Palmones

The area is one of the few remaining wetlands on the Mediterranean coast that still preserves the characteristics of marsh and estuarine areas, along with the ecological values associated with these natural habitats. The location is strategically positioned for migratory birds crossing the Gibraltar Strait, serving as a resting, feeding, and even breeding area. Several marine species also use the ecological features of this area to perform essential functions in their life cycle, such as spawning and feeding.
