Espacio marino de la Isla de Alborán

Located approximately 90 km south of the coast of Almeria and 50 km from the North African coast, Alboran Island is situated in the middle of the Alboran Sea. The island, which is of volcanic origin, is a practically flat basin with a maximum height of 16 metres above sea level. The islet of La Nube is situated nearby. Both formations correspond to the emergent part of a submarine ridge. They are parallel to the Baetic and Rif systems. This area has exceptional ecological value due to its high level of biodiversity.
