Espacio marino Cañones de Alicante

The Canyons Of Alicante Marine Area are characterised by two large formations, with several escarpments and seamounts present. These formations contain characteristic habitat communities of community interest reefs, such as white and black coral banks. Pockmark fields, consisting of depressions in the terrain in areas of sandy sediment, also occur in the area. These may be formed by outgassing and are characteristic of the site of community interest underwater structures caused by outgassing.
