Alborán

This area includes the waters and seabed at the summit of an underwater mountain range. Alboran Island, which is of volcanic origin and small, is the emerged part of the above-mentioned mountain range. It is situated in the centre of the Alboran Sea. This area has a high ecological value due to its rich biodiversity, which includes cetacean species like the Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) and reptiles such as the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta).
