Aiguamolls de l’Alt Empordà

The coastal area comprises the banks of the low Empordà plain, which was formed by the sedimentary contributions of the Muga and Fluvià rivers. This led to the creation of a significant area of coastal lagoons and swampy regions. These wetlands contain diverse vegetation. The existence of diverse ecological environments enables the coexistence of numerous faunal species, including a remarkable diversity of vertebrate and invertebrate species.
